Learning Basic Adding, Subtracting, Multiplying, and Division Facts

Knowing the basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts are necessary when creating a solid mathematical foundation for future math learning. We add, subtract, divide, and multiply every day.  Most of the time we don't even realize we are performing these functions.

What about when we go to the grocery store.  Most of us calculate (in our heads) what our bill will be.  That is called mental math, and that involves at the very least adding.

Learningtrends EBay GED Books- on auction right now!  Each starts at 99 cents!

Another example is being fair to our children.  If you go to the toy store you will most likely buy each of your children the same amount of toys.... and if not the same amount probably each of them will have the same value.  If you have 3 children and spend 10 dollars on each, how do you calculate how much you will spend.  You can either add or multiply.

See we use math all the time in our everyday life.
