Georgene Hughes 2004

Question: I am looking for free adding, subtracting, multiplication, and division flash cards and ideas that will help my children learn their basic math facts. How can I help my children learn the math facts they struggle with ?

Ideas and Suggestions to help teach Basic Math Facts

Knowing the basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts are necessary when creating a solid mathematical foundation for future math learning.

Second Exercise

Practice math facts.

Goal of exercise

Practice basic math facts.

Material needed:

1. Identify which math facts you would like to review

i.e. addition, subtraction, multiplication, division.

2. Download and print the math facts worksheets that you would like to practice in the Learning Trends math worksheets downloads page.

3. Have learner answer the problems on the math facts worksheets.

4. Use the answer key to check answers.  The parent or child can do this.

5. Review and go over incorrect answers.  If there are more than 5 incorrect answers, go back to Basic Facts First Exercise and practice flash cards before answering another math facts worksheets.

6.  If there are five or fewer incorrect answers, the learner may be ready to go to the next level of math facts.  Download and answer the next level of practice math worksheets.

Don't overdo it! As the teacher or parent, you know your child/children the best. The last thing you want is to have your child dislike math.

Have fun!
